About Us

Heka Networks, LLC is a two person consultancy located in the greater Boston, Massachusetts area. Brief bios are included below but here is a summary of what you will find:

  • We are passionate about what we do. Simply put, we love technology.
  • We understand that technology needs to support your business. Our love for technology aside, we are here to help you effectively use it to meet your business goals. Technology for technology's sake stays in our lab.
  • We have a ton of experience. Literally decades working in IT environments. Our programming experience means that applications aren't just “black boxes” that we work with – we understand what they do and how they do it. We don't just implement Open Source software, we help to build and contribute to it.
  • We are certified by industry-leading organizations. We believe that we're darn good at what we do, but don't take our word for it. We have industry standard certifications to back it up in addition to serving on the SANS Advisory Board.
  • We take pride in our work. That should go without saying, but all too often is not the case. We will make all reasonable efforts to ensure that you are not only satisfied, but delighted, with our work.

Christian Hamer

Education:

SB in Mechanical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
MS in Engineering Management, The Gordon Institute at Tufts University

Experience:

Christian helped to found an early Internet software startup that focused on database driven web sites in 1994. Since then, he has worked at that company in various roles spanning Software Development, Unix/Linux Administration, and IT Security in both hands-on and management roles. He left to co-found Heka Networks, LLC.

ISACA Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Member SANS Advisory Board.

Jonathan Nettleton

Education:

BS in Marketing, The Carroll School of Management at Boston College

Experience:

Jon opted out of a career in marketing to chase his passion of working with computer systems. He started at the help desk support level and worked his way up to the Senior Network and Security Analyst role. With nowhere else to go but management, he decided it was time to apply his knowledge of OpenSource and IT problem solving elsewhere, and co-founded Heka Networks, LLC. In addition to being an expert Linux and Solaris administrator, Jon is an active contributor to the Fedora Project's Linux distribution.
